The best Phoenix or Peoria, AZ landscapers understand color and mass frame a home, not hide it.Most homeowners, in any climate, see their landscaping as yard decorating. Yes, it does add color and texture, but the right way to design a yard involves much more than that.

The process gets more challenging for Arizona homes than other areas of the country. Still xeriscaping landscaping plants offer the right elements to properly frame and soften a residential structure. Whether you live in Phoenix or Peoria, AZ – landscapers who understand the right applications for height and mass will create the most visually exciting yards.

This particular home has wonderful curb appeal in the use of color in the xeriscaping design. The natural stone walk leading to the front door has sweep and curve so much more welcoming than that straight concrete walk most homes are equipped with when built. The path to this home’s front entry is easily located with the properly placed height of the Cardon Grande Cactus framing the passage way. These tall columnar specimens bring this Arizona home’s front landscape design to a crescendo, with all other plants featured remaining shorter even as the plantings mature.

While more height is used on each side, it will not reach the same lofty stature as these upright cacti. Nor will these succulents attain the heavy, solid mass that the much thinner Cardon Grande already possesses. The purpose of any landscape design is not to hide the building it surrounds, but to frame the view of it from beyond and soften the walls and carpet the areas between the tallest plants with color and texture. This design rule has been followed here very well. The outcome is perfect and beautifully the appeal of this great looking home.

The warm hues in the natural stone walk are echoed by the use of red blooming xeriscape shrubs and succulents. Adding the yellows of the Golden Barrel Cactus and other low lying plants adds vibrancy to this xeriscaping design that it wouldn’t have without them. These popular little cacti enhance the framing of the stone walk to the door even more, drawing the eye straight to the entry.

Additionally, the use of large landscaping rocks and boulders increases the impact of the low growing xeriscape plants. Were there now big rocks present, the amount of textural presence would be nil, causing this xeriscaping landscaping to be quite flat looking.

Removing any one element from this Arizona home’s curb appeal planting would deplete its visually striking presence. Choosing the right Phoenix or Peoria, AZ landscapers is important to how pleasing your xeriscape design will be. It must increase in age without losing its use of mass, form and framing. The best landscape designers will be those who know the plants extremely well and be able to see the finished planting in front of your home. This is what ultimately makes the difference between boring and beautiful curb appeal.

Adding big value to your patio pavers is easy with adobe walls to envelope your outdoor living room.as From New River to Glendale and Scottsdale, the addition of relaxing and beautiful outdoor living rooms is what every Arizona homeowner desires. Adobe walls and outdoor fireplaces are high on the list of additions to custom designs using patio pavers. This allows the beauty of view and long durability in the harsh desert climate.

The smooth texture of adobe is the perfect complement to the cut stone like pattern provided by pavers. As in this particular new landscape installation where low lying adobe walls were used to envelope the outdoor living patio.

By repeating the same block used in the driveway of this home, the patio pavers lend fluidity to the overall landscaping areas. The patio’s enclosure of adobe walls seamlessly blends with the walls of the building. Even before adding the xeriscaping landscaping along the perimeter, the overall feeling of this paver floored outdoor living room was refined and calming in ambiance. For the homeowner, these choices of hardscaping elements will be thoroughly enjoyable for their low maintenance and curb appeal values.

Softening and interesting color pulls the outdoor living area together with its brilliant blooms to accent the different textures of green. This mixture of xeriscaping landscaping cacti, shrubs and perennials will always be at their utmost best in vigor and beauty due to the drip irrigation that lies hidden beneath the stone mulch in the planting spaces.

Desert plants used in New River and Scottsdale or Glendale, Arizona landscaping will always give you so much more value when supplied with sufficient moisture. Drip irrigation is very conservative in the amount of water used, and none is wasted as it is beneath the surface and only going to the roots of each plant in your landscaping. Rugged plants used in our xeriscaping designs today will perform far better when they are given regular fertilization. This won’t increase your home maintenance chores when the fertilization is applied via the drip irrigation system.

To add the presence of an adobe wall envelope to your outdoor living patio does not require working with several contractors when you choose the right Arizona landscaper. Being highly skilled and providing versatile services is a sign of an accomplished craftsman. Masonry construction, pavers and drip irrigation installation are all part of the benefits found in working with Desert Crest for all your xeriscaping landscaping needs.

Fall Color for Arizona Landscaping

Posted by admin On July - 1 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

You can't beat the Rain Lily for late season flowers in Arizona landscaping.Adding a magnificent sweep of color is always welcome in anyones yard, and in Arizona landscaping you can count on the Zephtranthes to burst into bloom September-October. Also known as the Rain Lily, this tough perennial is a native of the plains in South America and Mexico. As it’s hardiness zones are 7-10, adding this lovely late season bloomer to your landscaping in Cave Creek or Glendale, Arizona is best done where it will have part shade.

You can choose from a selection of colors when adding the Rain Lily to your xeriscaping design – white, pale yellow and this vibrant pink. While the most common name for this easy to grow perennial flower refers to it as a lily, it is actually a member of the Amarylis family named after the west wind. Beneath a wide spreading tree is the perfect spot to add these plants to your outdoor living rooms or for curb appeal.

They do tolerate arid soil quite well, but if you are going to have that glorious sweep of blooms, you’ll want the plants to spread into a well filled clump or ground cover. In your Arizona landscaping, when the long dry periods of summer arrive, it is best to give the Rain Lily some water once or twice a week. They do thrive in the wild over summer dryness, but there is a huge difference between wild flowers on the plains and your manicured landscape design in Cave Creek or Phoenix.

Aptly named for their habit of bursting into bloom after an early fall rain, the Rain Lily performs with show stopping flair with the periods of drying out and watering we practice in our Arizona landscaping. Be sure to pick a spot where the soil drains well or amend your clay soil thoroughly when planting this great perennial in your xeriscaping. Not taking care on giving them the right soil conditions will mean you won’t be enjoying the beauty of bloom.  Your newly installed plants will be small, give them some time as the flower show is well worth your patience.
